If you are not backing up your important files,
they will be lost when the disk they're on finally
breaks down.
You need a file backup program
with ease-of-use
and versatility
so you can easily backup your work without wasting time and space copying unnecessary
files.
No single backup program is best for everyone, of course. The goal here is to
help you find a backup program appropriate to your needs, and to promote MultiBackup,
which is my Windows backup program. This site provides a list of features that
you might want to consider, including some things that MultiBackup
does not have.
Here is a link to
Yahoo's list of backup software.
This site contains information about some of MultiBackup's unique features,
and lets you download the program and its complete Windows help file.
MultiBackup is a pleasure to use, easy to learn, and versatile. It does incremental
backups to/from local or networked disks (Windows LAN or FTP). You can use it
for free, and if you decide to keep it the amount you pay is up to you.
If you want to determine quickly what usefulness MultiBackup offers you personally,
get the free program and run it. Create some backup jobs. The test only
option lets you see what files would be copied without actually doing anything.
The Stop button will quit any executing job immediately. Experimental
backup directories that you create can easily be deleted (here's
how). See the static example page (link below) and use the MultiBackup Windows
help file for a clickable image and complete descriptions.

Here's a brief description, what it does and does
not do.
And here's the lowdown on MultiBackup
