You need a file backup program with ease-of-use and versatility so you can easily backup your work without wasting time and space copying unnecessary files.

No single backup program is best for everyone, of course. The goal here is to help you find a backup program appropriate to your needs, and to promote MultiBackup, which is my Windows backup program.
